Winter Brights

February is always the coldest month in New York with lots of snow, crazy wind and freezing rain; the one when winter is in full swing and anyone who is “lucky” enough to be in this gorgeous city at that not so gorgeous time has to find a way to deal with the unforgiving cold. My way of doing that is dressing up properly, because for me winter is not about surviving by avoiding it, hiding under a warm blanket, it's about wearing the right clothes that would keep me warm enough to go through it with a smile. A cozy down coat and a pair of time-tested rain boots are the absolute essentials (for instance, this yellow Burberry number has saved me so many times that I couldn’t count even if I wanted to, including my trip to Seattle when I literally lived in my rain boots because it had been raining for the whole week). Also never be afraid of bright colors, not only will you be more visible in case of emergency (don’t laugh, anything can happen!), but they will also cheer you up while you’re battling the cold. Hence, the combination of red (the color of fire and blood, associated with energy, power, passion, desire and love) and yellow (the color of sunshine, associated with joy, happiness and energy) colors is as good as it gets, isn’t it?
